Yesterday morning was spent getting a haircut followed by a trip to IKEA to pick up some new bookcases (x3 Billy) for my office. I usually loathe visiting IKEA as the way it's set up – moving in single file through the entire store – is designed to tempt you to spend money on things you do not need (or at least, I'm convinced that is why it's set up that way. I'm sure someone smart at IKEA realised this is psychologically to their benefit). I resisted temptation on nearly everything, save for a cup holder which attaches to your desk. One working eye means accidental knocks of drinks happens more frequently than I care to admit.
Inevitably the bookcases didn't fit neatly in the car. I set off initially but quickly realised the positions of the bookcases was probably creating a bit of an unsafe driving environment, so I pulled over to reposition.
I recently found out Marc was ending this long-running WTF podcast series. I had dabbled years ago in a few episodes so I've made it my mission to listen to every single episode starting from the beginning. Patton Oswald was on one of the episodes I listened to on the drive to IKEA. Turns out he starred in a film called Big Fan which follows a devout New York Giants fan. Sounded interesting so I've added that to my list.
Ended up deferring the building of the bookcases until today. It ended up taking the entire afternoon but I'm relatively pleased with the result. Books are now no longer overflowing the room and everything has a place. Good for the mind.
